Wigan Borough Local Election Results May 2nd 2002:

At the Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council elections held on the 2nd May 2002 the Community Action Party fielded candidates in five wards and achieved the following results: -

LEIGH CENTRAL (8,445) Daniel Burrows (Community Action)212, Timothy Matthews (Con)301, Peter Smith (Lab)* 1,298 Result: No change.21.5%

HOPE CARR (10,248) Kevin Anderson (Lab)*1,498, Keith Fry (Socialist Alliance)104, Andrew Oxley (Con)713, Peter Solinas (Community Action)549. Result: No change. 28.05%

LIGHTSHAW (12,203) Peter Franzen (Community Action) 1,899, James Grundy (Con)581,Tom Sherratt (Lab)*1,776. Result: CAP gain. 34.94%

ASHTON-GOLBORNE (11,046) Stanley Barnes (Community Action)1,250, Andrew Bullen (Lab)*1,313, Jonathan Cartwright (Con)300, Marian Markham (Socialist Alliance)100. Result: No change. 26.86%

BRYN (9885) John Donald Hodgkinson (Community Action)1397, Marion Green (Conservative)200, Alan Melling (Labour)1311, Result CAP Gain. 29.45%
